Eye Exams for Children near Winterville
Here at Carolina Vision Care, our team has been helping patients see and live better since 1985, and in that time we’ve discovered that everyone we see is unique, and no two sets of eyes are alike. That’s why every patient who walks through our door will receive the highest quality treatment we can offer. We base each treatment plan on the patient’s individual needs – in fact, we base it on their individual eyes!
We take this same approach with little ones. We offer pediatric eye exams that help get to the root of your child’s vision trouble, then make a treatment plan, adjusting as we go. Our goal is to see each child all the way through school with the best possible vision, then send them out into the world knowing exactly how to care for their eyes.
Common Eye Trouble in Children
While children can technically suffer from any disease an adult can, they’re much more likely to struggle with eye disorders such as:
- Nearsightedness
- Farsightedness
- Astigmatism
- Amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Strabismus (eye turn)
These conditions can be treated, and the earlier the better. However, it’s not always obvious whether or not a child has one of these conditions, which is why it’s important to take children to the eye doctor for regular checkups.
Secondary Problems Associated with Poor Vision in Children
Children who have undiagnosed vision trouble tend to do poorly in school. They may show disinterest in schoolwork, have trouble reading, exhibit dread about the prospect of school, goof off or generally not take education seriously. While this might make it seem like they “don’t care,” we often find the trouble is they can’t see – and so they are bored or intimidated by school. Proper eye care and eyewear may be all that’s needed!
