What is Macular Degeneration?

Macular degeneration is age-related vision loss. It is natural, and unfortunately incurable, an eye disease that affects the retina. Blood vessels leak between the retina and the eyeball, resulting in cloudy vision and vision loss. While there is no cure we have several treatments allowing you to slow the progression and treat the symptoms of macular degeneration successfully.

What are Cataracts?

Cataracts are caused by a cloudy lens. This treatable condition develops slowly. The primary symptom of a cataract is blurry vision, in which you feel like you are looking through fog all of the time. Cataracts are typically treated once they affect your lifestyles, such as with reading or driving. We will refer you to an eye surgeon to carry out cataract surgery. We also provide post-op care for cataract eye surgery.

What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma includes a number of eye conditions that ultimately lead to blindness. Patients with this eye condition suffer from damage to the optic nerve connecting the eyeball and the brain. Generally, glaucoma is caused by increased pressure on the eye. If diagnosed with glaucoma this can be treated but not cured. Treatments range from eye drops and medications to lower your eye pressure, to eye surgery.

Am I Likely to Develop Diabetic Retinopathy?

If you are a diabetic, then yes, you are likely to develop diabetic retinopathy. Diabetics suffer from eye problems due to increased eye pressure. Retinopathy is a condition involving the tearing or separating of the retina from the eye. If left untreated it will lead to blindness.
